Symptoms of Coronavirus Disease 2019

In an effort to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect our patients, visitors, and staff from increased risk of exposure, we ask that all patients, family members, and/or visitors, refrain from entering any HNL Lab Medicine facility if: 

  • You have recently returned from travel outside of the U.S. 
  • You have been exposed to COVID-19 
  • Are experiencing flu-like symptoms including:
    • coughing
    • sneezing
    • congestion
    • fever

Face Mask Required Effective April 20, 2020

For everyone’s safety and with the current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and 
Prevention (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health, Health Network Laboratories (HNL Lab Medicine) requires all visitors and staff to wear a face mask before entering our facilities.
 We appreciate your help to keep our health care workers and our community safe.

Special Services Offered for the Safety of Our Patients, Staff, and Community.

All of us at Health Network Laboratories (HNL Lab Medicine) are committed to providing our patients with the laboratory testing needed to ensure your well-being during these unprecedented times. This message is to inform you of important changes we have made at Patient Centers to ensure you can receive the laboratory testing needed while providing a safe environment for you and our employees.

Dedicated Service Hour for Vulnerable Patients
The first business hour at all Patient Center locations is being dedicated to patients over the age of 

60 and those with underlying health concerns.

Social Distancing
After registering at the Patient Center kiosk, you now have the option to wait outside or in your vehicle.

When the Phlebotomist is ready to see you, they will contact you.

Glucose Tolerance Testing
As a convenience for our patients requiring a glucose tolerance test, which takes several hours to complete, we are offering you the option of waiting outside, or in your vehicle. If you prefer to wait outside, we will contact you at the required intervals.


Updated Hours and Temporary Closures
We are changing hours, and in some cases, temporarily closing some Patient Centers. Please visit 
HNL.com/locations or call Customer Care at 877-402-4221 for the most recent hours of operations and the Patient Center that is open and most convenient for you.

Individuals seeking testing for COVID-19 should not visit any HNL Lab Medicine Patient Center to request a test

Tests must be ordered by a healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider or a designated COVID-19 regional testing site must collect the specimen which can be sent to HNL Lab Medicine for processing. 

Please check our Website/Facebook daily for patient center hours of operations and temporary closures. The first hour of operation will be dedicated to patients 60 or older and those who have severe underlying medical conditions.

What is Coronavirus Disease 2019? 
Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 (formally known as 2019-nCoV) is the name for the respiratory syndrome caused by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Can I send my patient’s sample to HNL Lab Medicine? 
HNL Lab Medicine is accepting COVID-19 specimens collected by a healthcare provider for processing.

How fast will doctors get results back?
We expect results to be available 3-5 days from the time of specimen pickup; however, timing may be impacted by high demand.
 
What are the signs and symptoms of the COVID-19? 
The symptoms can include a cough, possibly with a fever and shortness of breath. There are some early reports of non-respiratory symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Most individuals recover within a few days. However, some individual’s, especially the elderly or people who have a weakened immune system, may develop a more serious infection, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.

Are masks or other personal protective equipment available for visitors to HNL Lab Medicine Patient Centers?

who need to get their blood drawn during the COVID-19 pandemic. 







We are offering the following:

Patients have the option to wait in their vehicle if other patients are waiting for testing or if you need a Glucose Tolerance Test.
How does this option work?

  1.  Register at the Kiosk 
  2. Use the sign-in sheet to enter your name and a phone number

  • Providers should contact their public health authority for information on managing individuals potentially infected with the virus. We encourage providers to review the CDC website to guide their patient management and lab testing for COVID-19: http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov.
  • COVID-19 testing specimens must be ordered by a healthcare provider. The acceptable sample type is nasopharyngeal (NP) swab in UTM viral transport media.

  • Please do not send the patient for COVID-19 specimen collection OR to drop off COVID-19 specimens to any HNL Lab Medicine Patient Center. Specimens must be collected by a healthcare provider or a designated COVID-19 regional testing site, which can be sent to HNL Lab Medicine for processing.

    IMPORTANT: Samples must be picked up by an HNL courier or processed by one of the designated COVID-19 regional testing and assessment sites. If you require a courier pickup, please contact our Customer Care Department at 877-402-4221.
